Twos-day

Has it really been so long since I last posted? Actually, I thought it was much longer. Lots and lots has happened since then, but won't bore you with the deets.

Gavin started 1st grade in August. Little man seems to like it more than he did Kindergarten. I think it's the structure- whatever it is, mommy really likes. Jeff branched out on his own as a real estate agent. So far, he's doing well- keeping busy and trying to get new clients. SO- if you live in the Atlanta and are looking to sell or buy a home, just let me know!

We went to Charleston, South Carolina a week or so ago to visit with Brother Joe. Very nice trip- boat ride, turtle viewing, behind-the-scenes Carolina Aquarium tour, lots of walks...all in all, no complaints.

Football season is making up for the lack of hockey this year, but still miss the boys in Atlanta. Trying to get into the Gladiators, but it's just not NHL hockey.

Any-hoodle, things are good, life is good- definitely looking forward to the cooler weather!!!

Happy Happy Year

The holidays have come and gone, I always get a little nostalgic during that time, then, when they're over, a little sad. Yes, I have finally accepted my geek-self and can admit, like an adult, that I like cheesy, sappy Christmas music and all the accoutrement that goes with it!

On another note...ok...I am so tired of all the negative articles written about Atlanta sports fans. We lost our hockey team and the fans got blamed for lack of success. The other day, an ESPN writer said our football fans (go Falcons) didn't deserve to win a playoff game. Well, he got his wish, thanks Jack.

Fortunately, it was followed by another writer who countered that article.

Regardless, the first article isn't the first. When we lost our beloved Thrashers, the Canadians took the opportunity to spear us as fans, or, lack thereof.

I wish people would stop pointing fingers and just get over it. A fan is a fan, yes, there are certainly levels of fan-dom, but please, is it really worth throwing insults at an entire group?

Ok, off soap box...moving on.

Welcome Back Stevenson!

Maybe I'll give this another go, maybe this will be my only post for another year. Who knows?!?! I'm not going to stress about it, that's for sure.

So, hockey season has started and yes, I'm feeling quite bitter. There's a lot of bad press circling Atlanta fans, or, lack thereof, if you believe what's being written. I need to remind people that our average attendance, no, wasn't in the high teens, but it was over 13,000 per game...that's more than a handful of other teams out there. Also, need a little reminding that yes, hockey can work in the South- go to a Carolina, Tampa Bay or Nashville game to witness that. Am I going to blame it entirely on the former owners? No, I guess not, but, I would say that they should bare the brunt. I saw what a little caring would have done when I went to my first Preds game in Nashville over the weekend. It wouldn't have taken much.

Anyway, moving on- Gavin started Kindergarten this year. How fun it's been!!! He loves school! I know he's not bored anymore because he doesn't bite his nails. Wow, I didn't realize how ready he was to leave Oak Grove CDC.

I turned 40 in September. Still in denial. 'Nuff said.

Jeff and I took our first trip alone together for said birthday. We had a blast in St. Simons doing well, whatever we wanted!!! The weather was excellent and the "boutique hotel" we stayed in was fabulous! We definitely want to do that again. It was nice just watching whatever we wanted to on TV...eating when we wanted to, or just shopping wherever we wanted to! Gavin stayed home with Gigi and Pop Pop and had a blast! I called them the first night to check in and it was like I was interrupting their fun! Perfect! Already planning the next trip!

For Dad's 70th birthday (wow on that, by the way), we planned a surprise birthday party. It was so great, we had a bunch of family come into town from Michigan, south Florida, South Carolina, he was totally surprised! It was the best present he could get. We all had such a good time and it was so nice hanging out with the family again. Especially since we hadn't seen them in such a long time.

Ok, going to go nurse my cold a little more. Signing off for now, hopefully, not another year!

Been a long time, been a long time baby

I have to start this post by stating that I love the show "Glee." I mean, has there been another lately that makes you want to just break out in song at any given moment? Right now I'm watching the "Rocky Horror Glee Show" and lovin' it!!!

Ok, so it's been quite a minute...and OK, I said that the last time...so now, moving on.

Halloween is this weekend and our little guy is dressing up as Scooby Doo. We've got a full weekend planned complete with a hockey game, trick or treating at our church and fun tricks Sunday night.

My stomach hurts this morning. Can't figure it out- I'm eating well- must just be "one of those bugs." Hm.

Gavin started Pre-K yesterday. New classroom! New friends to play with! New teachers...who keep getting him and Joe confused. YES! Joe and Gavin are back together- the gruesome twosome, the red-headed duo! Wonder how Gavin is doing with that...

We keep making more and more progress on our yard. We actually planted some rather lovely ferns over the weekend. Now, when you pull into the drive, it looks nice, not unkept or ugly, as it was.

You know, not feeling very creative this morning, but thought I'd touch base.

Had a great weekend in Nashville with Gavin and Windy's family. He has a blast with her children, Fisher and Cooper. They hosted another kid's birthday pool party on Saturday and by the end of the day, my little guy passed out on the couch from all the fun.

Jeff stayed at home and got a lot done around the house.

Not much else to report, just thought I'd check in though...

This weekend we celebrated Gavin's 4th birthday at Leapin' Lizards in Decatur. He had such a blast!!! All his friends from school came and they ran around for about an hour and a half. I bet we had a bunch of thankful parents later- those kids were probably ready to pass out afterwards!

My brother came in town with his wife- it was a nice visit with them. It's been awhile since we just hung out together. Jeff and I finished off the weekend trying to put together Gavin's new swingset. Ok, word of advice for parents out there- HIRE SOMEONE TO PUT TOGETHER YOUR CHILD'S SWINGSET. Not fun- 'nough said.

Since Gavin's birthday isn't officially until tomorrow, we've saved a couple of presents for him to open. I might get a couple more cupcakes...celebrate a little more. You know, it's hard to explain to a 4 year old that even though they celebrated their birthday, it's not actually for a couple of days.

Happy Monday!
