I get daily emails (or weekly, I forget) from the "America's Test Kitchen" folks. LOVE LOVE LOVE that show. If you've never seen that show, I highly recommend it. They go back to basics a lot and also present the best way to cook something for the best taste. I also like that they do taste testing of brands that you see in a regular grocery store, not just some gourmet shops where I hardly shop.

The host, Christopher Kimball, is pretty dry. Admittedly, I like him. He's not the "in your face" and loud "bam" kind of guy- very straight foward, in fact.

In today's email from him, I give you the following excerpt:
Our second oldest, Caroline, is finishing up a year working at a local Vermont bakery and is off to college in September. She also accompanied me, Adrienne, and three test kitchen employees — Bryan, Yvonne (who will be on the TV show in 2010), and Jacqui — to a Grateful Dead concert in April in Worcester, Mass., where we catered dinner for the band: Poached Salmon, salads, Muffuletta sandwiches, plus cookies and Applesauce Snack Cake. What was the band like? Very nice folks, polite, and, for the most part, good eaters. Bill Kreutzmann, one of the drummers, was particularly charming; he lives in Hawaii and says he enjoys a year-round diet of organic produce. Also there was Jeff Chimenti, the new keyboardist for the Dead, who also plays with Bob Weir and RatDog. Terrific guy.
It kind of made me laugh to see that he cooked lunch for the Dead. Totally threw me off, especially to see references to Bob Weir and RatDog (!!!). Had to share.
On another note- looking forward to the weekend- Dad is coming down tomorrow to hang out with us at the pool. We're going to Mercedes' son's Baptism tomorrow morning and having lunch with them afterwards. Should be fun.
TTFN!
